Care Package Kit
On every deployment, a care package came with things to keep us busy in the little downtime we had. In times like that, when you are away from home and thinking about what’s next, it’s natural to make plans to let the people you love know you care.

The gift is The Order Matters, a free guide to using VA education benefits in the right order. This kit is how it gets into the box: a card, a label, a note or a postcard, ready to print and pack at no cost.
The kit
Print what fits your boxes. Each piece carries a code to the free guide.
Cards
Eight to a letter sheet, 4 by 2.5 inches. Print on card stock and cut on the lines. Page two is the backs, if your printer prints both sides.
Labels
Ten to a sheet on Avery 5163 or any 2 by 4 inch label. Print at actual size (100%), not fit to page; a plain sheet first, held against the labels, shows the fit. Stick one inside the lid or on anything in the box.
A note from the founder
A thank-you from me, half a page, two to a sheet. Cut on the line and tuck one in each box.
Postcard
4 by 6 inches, front and back, with my note on the back. Take the file to a print shop or an online printer, or request it from me. I will do my best to fulfill every request, and 4 by 6 is the standard.

Why it is worth sharing
The guide is free to read online or to save as a PDF or EPUB. In print it runs $6.75 to $11.79 (set by retailers and subject to change).
Schools have written back about it, from high school JROTC programs to university Veterans offices. Public libraries have cataloged it under both Veterans benefits law and personal finance.
“In fact, I think that would be a very useful tool for them.”
500 notes are on their way into care packages for deployed troops, as of November 2, 2026.
Packed some? Tell me how many went out and I will add them to this count.
