The Order Matters: A Plain-Language Guide to VA Education Benefits, October 2026 Edition
The Order Matters is a plain-language guide to VA education benefits for military families, free to read and free to download.
The order: it frontloads the sequencing and teaches a method for planning with what you already have. The money: what the VA pays the school, what reaches the student, and what sets the housing allowance. The phases: planning a year, a semester, a transfer between schools, or a term abroad. The reference: what-ifs, FAQs, examples, official sources, and links to current guidance. The worksheet: a self-assessment and a build-your-own plan, so a student leaves with their own.
University Veterans offices, JROTC instructors and School Certifying Officials have written back to say The Order Matters was useful, and public libraries in Florida and Texas carry it.
